I purchased the Dove & Blue Abalone pick puck expecting the mother-of-pearl dove as shown on the product images and in the description. The abalone is great, but the dove is made of a disappointing plastic material. I would usually let the issue go if I got an explanation from Thalia or if they tried to make it right in any way possible, but instead I got nothing as I emailed support twice with no responses. 2 stars because the function and abalone is still good.
Purchased 24k gold finish for lasting luster - after all Thalia claims to be the beautiful capo - read their story about Thalia thinking Taylor Swift needed a beautiful capo. Only a few months after receipt of my 24k gold capo the finish begins to tarnish. Quote from Thalia after contact regarding the tarnished 24k gold, "We're also very sorry but our warranty only covers mechanical failures...", going on to offer a one time 20% discount on a new purchase. It's beautiful, if you get a good one and it works well as a capo. it's also very large and in the way for many types of playing. You can purchase a similar quality without the premium price. Been buying capos for 50 years and none have finish issues like this new one. Over priced specialty products like this one should offer a replacement, especially when they market their product as being beautiful. Will not recommend to anyone without alerting them to potentially faulty finishes. I fully expect his review to be deleted or rewritten.
I was TRULY impressed with the beautiful supple leather of this strap. Buttery soft and the delicate iridescent Mandala Inlay is enchanting! You will NOT be disappointed with this beautiful work of art!
This truss rod cover goes great on my Guitar for Vets Mini Taylor that I own with an Eagle and the Stars and Stripes on the top of the guitar. Thanks Thalia….
I've had many capos in my life but none of them sufficed for my acoustic 12-string Alvarez, and most didn't even work well on my 6-strings. My 12 is an older guitar, 1980s, and every capo I've ever had would pull some of the strings out of tune when placed on the fretboard. Thalia assured me of their quality and my trust grew until I finally purchased their Emerald Green Abalone version. At first I found the capo a bit wonky on the neck, but I'll get used to that in no time. It's just different than my other capos. It worked perfectly and fit my 12-string really well, the rubber pad applying equal pressure to all the strings without pulling any of them sharp. I cannot say enough good things about this capo. I've probably spent more money on all the other capos combined when compared with Thalia's. The quality and attention to detail and functionality is top-notch and I wish I had discovered this capo before any other. You have a customer for life. Thanks, Thalia!
As I posted in my earlier review, the Thalia capo is the best I've used. I play 12 string guitars, almost exclusively, both electric and acoustic. With the High Tension kit, I'm able to quickly change the curvature of the capo to match the neck of whaatever guitar I'm playing. From a Rickenbacker 660/12TP, a 1993 Plus, a Burns Double Six, or a Fano/Rivolta 12, to a Martin D12-35, a Taylor PS52ce, or a Takamine EN12C-12, it's a 30 second quick change of the pad to get a perfect fit. It's a really well engineered design that works flawlessly.
Another fine Thalia pick puck with vivid colors. Most of my guitars have pick pucks which eliminates they need to go searching for a thumb pick.
Wonderful product and customer service
I have 4 of their straps and 2 capos. They are a great product
This is, without a doubt, the best capo I've ever used. I play both electric oand acoustic 12 string guitars, and instead of having to switch capos for each guitar, the Sapele works perfectly on everything. I highly recommend it.
I bought this as a gift. She thought it was “beautiful.”
Looks great, paired it with the Mermaid truss rod cover and guitar looks great.
Fast delivery and well crafted. It really complemented my guitar. Highly recommended !
Comfortable, Great looking and pairs well with LoneStar truss rod cover to give your guitar a custom look.
This capo came with an expensive guitar, the quality is on par with any I have used before and certainly enhances my enjoyment and playing. I enjoy the fretpad design as it allows the user to attach the capo it either way (up or downwards), also anywhere within the fret…an excellent product.
2/5 Stars
I was pretty disappointed with this pickguard. I ordered the Brazilian Black Cherry & Mother of Pearl Pickguard 2.0 based on the company’s recommendation. They specifically told me the Black Cherry color would be the best match for my matte-finish Taylor and that this version would adhere best to the finish.
Unfortunately, neither recommendation turned out well. The Black Cherry color doesn’t complement my guitar at all. Instead of blending naturally, it looks out of place. The mother-of-pearl pattern is also inconsistent, with noticeable variations that make it look less refined than the product photos.
The fit and adhesion seem fine, but appearance is the whole reason for buying a custom pickguard, and this one missed the mark. If you have a matte-finish Taylor, I’d be cautious about relying solely on the company’s color recommendation.
At $95, it’s definitely not worth the price. The quality and appearance simply don’t justify the premium cost. I expected a much more convincing match for a custom product, especially after following the company’s recommendations.
Yes, I pimped my Taylor. Added the Gold Abalone Capo to match the Gold Tuner hardware of my 300 series and the Abalone Truss Rod cover. It's very pretty and a gift to myself for having kept up this habit of playing guitar for 50 years. Thalia offered the perfect accessory and i could not resist it.
Do I Need them? Absolutely not.
Do I think they look good? Hell Yeah
Value for money? nope but you can afford a Taylor you can afford a bit of bling.
They are subtle and smaller than I first thought but that just makes them Not Gaudy..
I had a truss rod cover made by the thalia custom shop. It came out beautifully. It looks better in person than on screen! Thinking about getting a couple more for other guitars... The Octopus pick tin is neat and try out some wooden picks if you haven't tried them before...
